Market Description
Pleasantly shielded from all the chaos of Mission Street and all the high fashion of Valencia, Mission Community Market is tucked away at 22nd street and Bartlett. Conveniently situated two blocks from 24th street Bart, this slowly growing jewel of a farmer’s market takes place seasonally (May-December) every Thursday from 4PM to 8PM. Mission Community Market promises what it suggests—that is, a tried and true feeling of community. It is not uncommon for us, Happy Boy employees to witness neighbors running into neighbors or mothers teaching their children the names of their favorite produce. It is an ideal destination for workers, students and families to meet up at the end of a long day. Market visitors come to shop for dinner or munch on handfuls of kettle corn while listening to quirky lady buskers with decked out accordions, or to participate in the swing classes that take place twice monthly.
Though Mission Community Market feels small, it houses a variety of our favorite organic farms including Blue House, Twin Girls in addition to blossoming artisanal vendors stands such as Dandelion Chocolates (the bay area’s newest artisanal chocolate company) Emmy’s Pickles and Jams, and The Heated’s screen printed tea-towels—decorated with smiling birds and flying school buses. This market may seem small at first glance, but the charm of its vendors and patrons creates a comfortable community setting that will bring a smile to any face.
